With two nameservers
Now that you have a domain name and hosting account, you will use the two together. So, all you have to do is point your GoDaddy domain with your HostGator hosting account. It is very simple and it only takes few minutes. You will need two nameservers HostGator emailed you when you purchased hosting account. Both of them are also shown on front page of your HostGator cPanel. More about that is in Step 1. described below.
I’m going to show you how I did it with my domain myinternetstory.com and my Hatchling hosting package at HostGator. I’m sure you will not have any problems with that.
Log into Control Panel of your HostGator hosting account and scroll down. On the left hand side account information are located. As you can see below, there are two nameservers among them. You will need them in Step 4. so remember these two.:
Now sign in to your GoDaddy account and click Launch domains.:
Edit your domain settings, go to Nameservers and click Set Namaservers.:
Go to customizable nameserver settings and click Add Nameserver.– then enter NS5120.HOSTGATOR.COM and NS5220.HOSTGATOR.COM (remember to put your numbers instead of 5120 and 5220). Click Save and that’s all what you have to do.:
From now on your domain is located on HostGator server, where you have hosting account. But remember that the whole process of linking the domain and server together may take same time. When everything is done, you will see this.:
